Encountering & Anticipating Loss : A workshop about Grief during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Don’t be afraid of your heart breaking open. The heart that breaks open can hold the whole universe.
— Joanna Macy

Denial, anger, depression, bargaining…we are likely to be encountering all of these reactions to the current COVID-19 pandemic. We often associate grief with death, and yet, there are many other life events that can usher in waves of grief such as a break-up or a job transition. For many of us right now, the biggest loss we are facing is the loss of safety. Not to mention the loss of routines or special events that you had planned for, which are now cancelled or postponed. In this workshop, we will discuss how the concept of anticipatory grief might help us to shift our emotional responsiveness and to perhaps begin to imagine what acceptance might look like.

If you’re grieving the news and events surrounding coronavirus, then you’re not alone. Join us for this 90-minute workshop in which we witness each other in community and discuss compassionate ways to attend to ourselves through the grieving process.

Date/Time: Saturday, April 11, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM (90 minutes)

Fee: $15

Number of participants: 6-8

Facilitator: Taz Morgan, MA, Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, supervised by Gabrielle Taylor, PhD
